How Much Can You Make Selling on Toycycle?

Wondering what your kids' outgrown toys are actually worth? Here's the honest answer, with our full payout table — no "it depends" hand-waving.

How do Toycycle payouts work?

Toycycle is a toy consignment service: we list, store, photograph, and sell your items, and you earn a percentage of the sale price when each item sells. The percentage depends on the item's selling price — higher-value items earn you a larger share.

You get paid in cash (via PayPal or Venmo) or store credit, which pays 10% more on every tier. You can request a payout at any time.

What is Toycycle's payout scale?

Rates are per item, based on what it sells for:

Under $15	10%	20%

Items priced under $15 are accepted, but they earn the lowest tier — so a box of higher-value toys will always out-earn a box of small stocking stuffers.

What toys earn the most?

The best returns come from toys that hold their value in the resale market:

Premium approved brands — think Lovevery, Grimm's, PlanToys, American Girl, Playmobil, Brio, KiwiCo, Jellycat, Tonies
Complete sets — all pieces and parts present, ideally with instructions
Excellent condition — no significant scuffs, scratches, tears, or chips; clean and ready for a new family

A Lovevery Play Kit or a large Grimm's set that sells for $100–$200 pays you 50% in cash (60% in credit). A single higher-value item beats a pile of small ones — both for your payout and your time.

Which brands does Toycycle accept?

We curate a specific list of approved brands, currently including American Girl, Brio, Disney, Fat Brain Toys, Grimm's, Jellycat, KiwiCo, Lalo, Learning Resources, Lovevery, PlanToys, Playmobil, Squishmallows, and Tonies — see the full, current list on the Sell page. Items outside the approved list can't be accepted right now (we update the list periodically). Our focus today is primarily toys — we don't take large baby gear.

How and when do I get paid?

Your items are listed within 1–2 weeks of arriving at our warehouse, and most sell within 30–60 days; anything unsold gets marked down over time, and items still unsold after 180 days are donated to local non-profits that support families in need. Payouts are yours to request at any time — cash via PayPal or Venmo, or store credit with the 10% bonus. Full details in our Seller FAQ.

What does it cost?

A $5 box label fee (your prepaid USPS shipping label) is deducted from your first payout. If a box contains excessive items we can't accept, a $10–$25 disposal fee applies — so check your brands against the approved list before packing.

How do I start selling?

Three ways, depending on how much you're sending:

Cleanout Box — best for 10–15 approved-brand items; request a prepaid label and ship from anywhere in the continental US.
Curbside pickup — best for big stashes of 20+ items, across the San Francisco Bay Area (local guides: Berkeley, Oakland, and Alameda).
Drop-off — at our Hayward, CA warehouse, Monday–Friday 9am–3pm, by appointment.
