Is Clutter Causing You Stress?

Researchers are learning that clutter in the home can cause significant stress. According to an article in the New York Times last year:
"If you have to move things around in order to accomplish a task in your home or you feel overwhelmed by all your “things,” it’s a strong signal that clutter has prevailed."

And what home with young children doesn’t suffer from clutter?

Whether it’s mild or extreme, if you’ve got kids, you’ve got clutter. They require so much gear. So many toys. New baby clothes every few months.
The Times continues, "The findings add to a growing body of evidence that clutter can negatively impact mental well-being, particularly among women." Somehow that doesn't seem so surprising, does it?

You may have watched Marie Kondo and applied the popular mess-fixing method to your home. You've read blog posts entitled, How to Keep My Kids' Room Clutter Free. You've used bins. You've tried toy rotation. Your clutter may be nicely organized in a basement or garage.
But the question of when and what to do with outgrown kids toys, baby clothes and gear remains. And that too can be stressful. It's daunting. The average U.S. family owns 71 toys. Despite surveys suggesting that kids only play with 10-15 of them. Child development is so rapid, they outgrow toys in no time. Just like they outgrow their clothes. It can seem impossible to keep up.
Toycycle’s curbside consignment service was designed to solve this problem for busy, stressed parents – read, ALL parents.

Try this simple tip – buy used and sell when you're through

Here's a tip to overcome clutter that we at Toycycle endorse. Buy used toys and used clothing and sell when you're through. Keep items for only as long as they interest your child, then move on. You'll save on both ends and have extra money in your pocket and extra space to breathe in.
Indulge in some chill after you place that pile of kids toys and other gear on your porch for pick-up. We’ll come to get it, sort it, process it, and list it for sale in our online thrift store. You can forget all about your previous clutter. Until you receive a cash payout when it sells. How’s that for cortisol reduction?
